Today, I'm going to be talking about the Jamaican passport and its power. How powerful is the American passport? What can it do and what can it not do? I'm going to broaden the topic by covering Caribbean communities and discussing how it affects American citizens with a Jamaican passport. After that, I will further broaden it to discuss Jamaican independence and its affiliation with the United Kingdom. Recently, I applied for and received a Jamaican passport. Even though I am not currently living in Jamaica, I saw that Jamaica had created a new passport and I wanted to have one. I had one of the older versions and I thought, "Yeah, I'm gonna apply for this new one". My old passport still had an entire year left on it, but I was so excited to get the new one that as soon as I was legally able to apply (which was less than a year), I sent off my application and received the new passport. I was so excited about having this new passport that I decided to post a picture of myself with the old and new passports on one of my social networks. A few people liked it and then one of my online friends decided to comment on it. This friend is a French citizen living in Jamaica and he said, "It's good to see you ever do making passport case. I've never had a new one". I responded to him by saying that what I really liked about it was the fact that the Caribbean communities (CC) is now embedded in it.
