The executive director of the nonprofit Lake Chapala Society, Tara Vidal, describes this place as a multicultural center with the mission of having an integrated community where everyone works together to maintain and improve their quality of life. The population of foreigners in this area varies depending on the time of year, with some living here full-time and others coming down for the winter. The population can range from at least 7,000 to around 17,000 foreigners. The climate in this region is quite pleasant, with an average year-round temperature of around 68 degrees Fahrenheit (20 degrees Celsius). The area's height, at 5,000 plus feet, is the same as Denver. Many foreigners have chosen to live here, leaving behind their careers and embracing the peaceful lifestyle. One resident, in particular, mentions that they don't miss US politics and appreciate the sense of community they have found in this area.
