Hello and welcome to the Tech Math Channel. In this video, we are going to be looking at a way of working with percentages in your head. We will start with simple percentages such as ones that have fives, tens, and fifteen percent of a number, as well as twenty-five percent, fifty percent, seventy-five percent, and ninety-five percent. These are fairly simple percentages, and we will cover more complex versions in a later video. First off, let's understand what percentage means. A percentage is literally a number out of one hundred. For example, when you see the word "percent", it means "out of a hundred". Now let's move on to a specific example. How fast can you work out 15 percent of 80? Hopefully, you already know that the answer is 12. This method works on the idea of understanding 100 percent of a number, 50 percent of a number, 10 percent of a number, and 5 percent of a number. Let's break it down further. 100 percent of a number is the actual number itself. For example, 100 percent of 80 would be 80. Similarly, 100 percent of 70 is 70, and 100 percent of 720 is 720. Moving on, 50 percent of a number is half of the number. So, 50 percent of 80 is 40, 50 percent of 12 is 6, and 50 percent of 32 is 16. Next, let's look at 10 percent of a number. This is simply dividing the number by 10. For example, 10 percent of 15 is 1.5, 10 percent of 80 is 8, and 10 percent of 12 is 1.2. Now, 5 percent of a number is just half of 10 percent. So, 5 percent of a number can be easily found by dividing the 10 percent value by 2. In...
